South Africa holds a special place in my heart. It is my first home, I grew up in this beautiful chaos. This collection of images is from a care-free and seemingly aimless time of my life in my early twenties.

South Africa has so many different sides to it, it’s immensely complex, diverse and has so much to offer anyone willing to visit, to venture beneath the surface, connect deeply and explore with no fear.

My brothers and I started documenting our adventures on film, not because we thought it was cool, but because we couldn’t afford digital cameras. I distinctly remember looking at one particular camera we had and daydreaming, wishing that it had that magical little LCD screen on the back. There’s a romance in film, sure, but there is also a pace that it teaches you too. To conserve your shots, to patiently wait, knowing there is a monetary value attached to each shutter release. I feel like it taught me a lot, these humble and sincere moments.
